Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Incident as Police Continue Search for Killer.

Two students who were killed in the recent tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their shooter continued following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies publicly, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the renowned school, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine more persons were injured in the weekend shooting in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 detained in a police operation at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our public”.

The shooter began shooting inside a room in the building on Saturday afternoon, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm pistol, a police source reported to the news agency.

Police that searched the inn seized two handguns and magazines when the suspect was arrested, according to reports.

Those Hurt

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was allowed to go home, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, friends, and peers and grieve for of his bright future.”
