A Tragic Discovery Reiner was discovered deceased alongside his spouse, Michele Singer Reiner, at their residence in LA at the weekend. “We will miss this man so deeply…” Ryan shared on Instagram, next to an image of them together. “Our gratitude, Rob and Michele, for your faith in true love, stories, and joy. Your trust in people's goodness and your love for this nation are remembered.” Charges Filed Reiner’s son Nick, 32, is accused of two counts of first-degree murder and appeared in court today. He’s being incarcerated with no bail set. Sources state that Reiner’s daughter Romy was the one who located her father. “I must hold onto hope that their tale doesn't conclude here, that awareness can be heightened from this,” Ryan continued. “Perhaps they would desire a legacy of hope and humanity, leading us toward empathy and tranquility.” Children Share Their Grief Reiner’s other children Jake and Romy released a message today. “Language fails to capture the daily agony we endure,” they said. “The tragic, shattering loss of our parents is an experience no one should have to face. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.” Colleagues and Friends Remember Ryan’s co-star, Billy Crystal, also paid tribute to Reiner with a statement shared yesterday alongside tributes from Larry David, Martin Short and Albert Brooks. “His comedic touch was beyond compare, his love of getting the music of the dialogue just right, and his sharpening of the edge of a drama was simply elegant,” it read. “He cherished performers and improved scribes. His finest trait was granting creative liberty. He valued input and made you part of the team. Everyone felt like part of a crew. His direction was a gift, but his legacy is broader.” A Storied Career When Harry Met Sally was a box office and critical triumph in 1989, grossing more than $93 million worldwide and securing Nora Ephron an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay. Rob Reiner was introduced to Michele Singer Reiner while making When Harry Met Sally. The pair were introduced by Barry Sonnenfeld, a fellow filmmaker and pal. Reiner’s extensive filmography also included classics such as Misery, Stand by Me and The Princess Bride. The director and his wife were husband and wife for over three decades.
