🔗 Share this article Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care. The Serious Charges Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021. One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.” Scope of the Investigation These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital. Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January. Breakdown of Offences The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise: 15 counts of sexual assault. Seventeen counts of penetrative assault. Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen. Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen. 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration. Police are urging individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
