🔗 Share this article Battlefield 6's Relaxed Playlist Ignites Intense Discussions Over AI Players, XP Rewards, and Queue Times Recently, Battlefield Studios introduced a fresh game mode called Casual Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode mirrors the regular Breakthrough format but includes several key adjustments: Each team includes only 8 real players, with the rest filled by AI-controlled opponents. Actions performed by human gamers award complete experience points, while AI activities offer reduced XP. Just a pair of locations can be played: Siege of Cairo and Empire State. Elements like Dogtags, achievements, and stat tracking are disabled. So essentially, this mode delivers on its title: it's a laid-back version of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it gives additional choices for players looking for different methods to have fun with the game. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it's that you can't please everyone. In other words, a lot of Battlefield 6 players are upset. Community Responses: Anger to Support "People want human opponents. Avoid making the errors of your rivals," states one reply to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking idea," comments a different user. At the same time, in community forums, one user remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this game," while another details everything they believe to be broken in the game: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this bot mode." However, amid the criticism, some gamers sharing how much they're liking the new mode. "It's enjoyable to practice, human participants keep it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," reads one Reddit comment. "The community doesn't understand that there are gamers who have lives and can't play this game 24/7. Let them find a middle ground," adds a different comment. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is perfect for me," and another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition." Valid Concerns and Community Feedback Despite the support, there are valid points to complain about the new mode. Some users have pointed out that it will make queue times more extended for other modes because of the sheer number of options currently available. Similarly, some areas already encounter mostly bots in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a required amount of real players, despite it primarily centers on combat against bots. Lastly, one of the biggest grievances is that Battlefield Portal was promised to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that got canned when they attempted to eliminate XP farming from the system. So this new playlist feels like the player base meeting them in the middle, according to a Reddit comment. Another describes this mode as the devs "making a mistake so hard, I had so much fun in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?" Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur? If Battlefield Studios has proven anything so far with Battlefield 6, it's that they're listening and acting on player input. Tasks being too difficult got fixed rapidly, just like the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, should analytics shows this new playlist is underperforming to their expectations, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
