The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his position after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with outcomes like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
